A fed-up councillor is calling for action after yet another case of fly-tipping in a hotspot.

The incident took place on Foxcote Lane, Cradley, where brown carpet was dumped.

Ryan Priest, Liberal Democrat councillor for Cradley and Wollescote, is asking anyone who has recently had brown carpet removed from their home to check who carried out the work or disposed of the waste.

Cllr Priest has said that he is well aware that residents may have paid someone in good faith to remove waste from their property, only for it to have later been dumped illegally.

Repeated fly-tipping incidents along the lane have prompted ongoing calls from residents and councillors for stronger action from Dudley Council.

Councillor Priest said: "I’m fed up of seeing Foxcote Lane used as a dumping ground, and I’m fed up of Dudley Council dragging its feet on doing something about it.

"If you’ve recently had brown carpet like this removed from your home, please get in touch and let me know who carried out the work or who you paid to take it away.

"I’m not interested in getting residents into trouble, but if someone has taken your money to dispose of waste properly and then dumped it on Foxcote Lane, I absolutely want their details."

Councillor Priest has also encouraged people to be cautious when hiring waste removal services, warning that fly-tipping is often linked to a small number of repeat offenders offering suspiciously cheap clearance deals.

He said: "Foxcote Lane cannot just be left as a dumping ground.

"We need proper enforcement, but we also need to make it easier and more affordable for residents to dispose of bulky waste responsibly."

The Liberal Democrats are calling for cheaper bulky waste collections, tougher fines and enforcement against fly-tippers, and cameras on Foxcote Lane.

Anyone who recognises the carpet or believes they know where it came from is asked to contact Councillor Priest at cllr.ryan.priest@dudley.gov.uk.

Councillor Damian Corfield, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: "Fly-tipping is a blight on our communities and something Dudley Council takes very seriously.

"We understand residents' frustration when rubbish is dumped in their neighbourhoods, and we are committed to investigating incidents and taking enforcement action where evidence is available.

"We would encourage anyone with information that could help identify those responsible for fly-tipping on Foxcote Lane, or elsewhere in the borough, to report it to Dudley Council. Information from residents can play an important role in helping us take action against offenders.

"The vast majority of residents dispose of their waste responsibly, and we will continue working to keep our neighbourhoods clean, safe and attractive places to live."
