THIS year’s Festival of Light and Water in Brierley Hill is set to have worldwide appeal as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

The popular event at the Waterfront will be held on Sunday October 5 and will feature a traditional colourful boat parade as well as live music, dance groups and a funfair.

This year’s theme is ‘What a wonderful world’ and narrowboats will be decorated to represent different countries across the globe.

The Waterfront will be transformed with an Italian theme to represent Venice with boats decorated by community groups to represent countries and continents such as America, Africa, Iceland, Scotland and India.

The event, which will run from 2.30pm until 8.30pm, is free to attend and will be rounded off with the traditional firework finale.

However craft, food and entertainment stall holders are being encouraged to apply early for a stand at the show.

Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “This year’s festival promises to have a real worldwide appeal.

“I hope as many people as possible will take the opportunity to go along to an event that attracts thousands of people year on year and I’m sure many craft stall holders will be keen to exhibit at the show.

“The stalls, along with all the other entertainment, ensure there will be something for the whole family.”

To apply for a stall people should call organisers CCEM on 08707 449701 or email admin@ccem.co.uk or visit www.dudley.gov.uk
