A TEENAGER left a Lye restaurant owner with bleeding to the brain after an unprovoked attack in Brierley Hill.

A court heard Delwar Hussain, aged 41, had no memory of the attack and continued to suffer from headaches, stress and blurred vision.

Mr Hussain of High Street, had problems with his balance, his sleep patterns had been disrupted and he felt like a “different person” after the single punch thrown by Nathan Dobson.

On Monday September 8, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard Dobson, aged 19, carried out the attack outside the Maya nightspot at the Waterfront near the Merry Hill shopping complex.

Dobson, of Cannock Road, Featherstone, near Wolverhampton admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Hussain and he was given a ten month custodial sentence suspended for two years.

He was further ordered to carry out 180 hours community punishment, made the subject of a three month curfew order and also told to pay Mr Hussain £250 compensation for his injuries.

John Attwood defending said Dobson was of previous good character and the offence was completely out of character for what was a hard working young man who came from a fairground family.

Judge Rose Bush told Dobson a single blow could have devastating consequences but she said she accepted he had first backed away because he felt Mr Hussain was being aggressive and it was then he threw the one punch.
