Stourbridge Rugby Club’s ladies team will be looking to go from strength to strength after an incredible 12 months.

The team, which formed just over a year ago has grown to more than 30 registered players and their success last season has helped secure a place in the National Challenge Midland South Two League structure.

This will see them play 16 games against the likes of Worcester seconds and Cleobury Mortimer.

Head coach Bill Webb said: “The ladies team has gone from strength to strength with a number of wins last season including beating local rivals Dudley Kingswinford 25-0 in their first ever match back in February.

“Training has continued over the summer with a mixture of rugby skills and fitness training so the ladies are in good shape for the coming season.”

The first league match of the season is on Sunday September 14 at home at 2.30pm and sees them take on the well established ladies team from St Mary's Old Boys, Bristol.

Captain Katie Yates said: “If you're a fan of rugby come down to the club and have a great afternoon out and watch what promises to be an action packed game.

“We are also playing a curtain raiser match before the men's first team take to the pitch in their first home match of the season on Saturday September 20 and we kick off at 1pm for those that want to come down and show their support.”

Anyone who fancies trying their hand at rugby and are over 18 are welcome to go training every Wednesday evening at Stourton Park from 6.30pm.

The team are also looking for a new physiotherapist to join them.
