INTREPID students from King Edward VI College in Stourbridge hope to have raised £1,000 after taking part in a sponsored walk.
The adventurous teens climbed the ‘three peaks’ of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-Y-Ghent in Yorkshire - covering 24 miles, including a 5,000-foot ascent, in just 12 hours.
They prepared for the challenging trek by striding along the towpaths between Stourbridge and Stourport and rambling across the Clent Hills.
College spokesman Jeremy Panko said: “Despite some poor weather conditions the students were elated when they reached the top of the third peak.
“They are now busy collecting sponsorship money and expect to reach their target of £1,000.”
