MORE than 100 people turned out for the funeral of a tragic Lye man who was found dead at home a few days before Christmas, aged just 30.

Builder’s labourer Nathan Cartwright, of Careless Green, was found by his step-sister Amy on December 21.

His family were left stunned at his sudden death, which so far remains unexplained.

An inquest was opened and adjourned on December 22, but no cause of death has been identified.

Nathan’s aunt Sylvia Horton said the father-of-two had eaten a curry before going to sleep and was found dead the next day.

She said: “I can’t believe he’s not here. He just went to sleep and never woke up.

“He was a lovely lad, always smiling and friendly. Everybody loved him.”

Nathan leaves two children - Josh and Chloe, a brother - Jonathan, a step-brother Scott, and four step-sisters Georgia, Sharon, Tracey and Amy, as well as dad George and mum Jean, step-mum Lorraine and step-father Clive.

His funeral was held at Stourbridge Crematorium yesterday (Tuesday January 5).

Sylvia said: “Over 100 people turned out and they were queuing at the back of the building.”

She said donations in memory of Nathan will go towards her continuing campaign to buy a new portable ultra-sound scanner for the plastic surgery department at Dudley’s Russells Hall Hospital - where she underwent breast reconstruction after cancer.
