STOURBRIDGE MP Margot James has laughed off her first appearance in satirical magazine Private Eye - which links her to sex videos produced by her partner.

The fortnightly current affairs read, edited by Have I got News For You’s Ian Hislop, featured the 53-year-old high-profile Tory MP in its ‘new boys and girls column’.

The article states she would be an obvious choice to cover health as she used to run her own health PR company Shire, but it goes on to say her “other interests should not be overlooked” and refers to her role as director of her partner Jay Hunt’s production company Violet Productions.

It reads: “With Jay Hunt having been a producer on such televisual delights as Hotter Sex and The Truth About Sex, perhaps she’ll find a berth in the culture department instead.”

Ms James, however, brushed off the jibe, saying: “There is nothing I would take issue with.

“Jay made these programmes when she was a freelance TV producer long before started up her company. They were perfectly legitimate programmes based on books by sex therapist Tracey Cox.”

She added: “I am a director of Jay's business. I have declared it and it is an unremunerated position, but I do not have any say, influence or involvement in any of the creative output of Jay's company - which does all all sorts of work for business websites.

“It varies from social service to flower shops to doctors and all sorts - but no sex films as yet.”

Ms James, who held the position of Conservative Party vice chair up until she won the Stourbridge constituency seat in May, added: “You just have to put up with this sort of thing in politics - I brush it off.”
