STOURBRIDGE artists hope to invite historian and TV presenter Kate Williams back to give a talk at a future meeting after her planned appearance was cancelled at the last minute.

The Stourton-born author of Becoming Queen had been due to give a lecture on Queen Victoria at Stourbridge DFAS’s monthly meeting at Stourbridge Town Hall on February 17 but she was taken ill shortly before.

Instead Stourbridge glass expert Charles Hajdamach was drafted in at the 11th hour to talk on the ‘golden age of British glass’.

Meriel Harris, chairman of Stourbridge DFAS, said: “We were very lucky to be able to find someone of equal standing to step in. With no time at all he produced a superb lecture.

“We will endeavor to invite Kate again at some point in the future.”
