STOURBRIDGE CC took another huge step towards the Worcester League Division One title with a seven wicket win at Romsley and Hunnington.

The victory, coupled with Worcester Nomads’ defeat at Oldswinford, has extended Stour’s lead at the top to a mammoth 53 points.

While it would be foolish to say the title is in the bag with still nine games to play, it’s going to take a turnaround of historic proportions to deny Richard Bradley’s side promotion now.

Saturday’s win was as simple as they come from the moment Romsley won the toss and decide to bowl.

James Musk snared 3-23, Matt Bradley 2-11 and Mikesh Patel mopped things up with a two wicket maiden - the only over he bowled - as the hosts were shot out for 91 in just 27 overs.

The only blip came at the start of Stour’s reply, when openers Matt Bradley and Steven Game were dismissed early. But an unbeaten 32 from skipper Bradley and 31 from Josh Banks saw them home in little over 17 overs.

Stour host another struggling side in the shape of Bewdley this weekend.
