LEE Nightingale smashed a stunning century as Oldswinford crushed struggling Romsley.

The opener cracked an unbeaten 102 and together with 15-year-old Harry Stanier (47 not out) helped his side chase down a total of 158 in just 13.4 overs.

Oldswinford bounced back to fifth in Worcester League Division One with the win.

Skipper Jamie Perks said: “Romsley were not the strongest side we have faced this year but Lee and Harry batted really well.

“Lee in particular was quite destructive.”

Nightingale’s knock included 14 fours and five sixes and leaves him in with a chance of reaching 1,000 runs this season.

With Dave Martin now returned to Newcastle and Seb Seocup suffering from illness, Oldswinford blooded a number of youngsters on Saturday and they did not disappoint.

Jack Stanier, aged 17, took 3-49 and 16-year-old Rhys Williams claimed 2-18.

Perks added: “The plan for the rest of the season is to give some of the youngsters a go.”
