STOURBRIDGE under-lined their potential as Birmingham League Division Three title contenders with a winning draw against Tamworth.

In what many viewed as their first big test of the campaign, Stour failed to keep up their perfect record but still finished well on top.

Skipper Richard Bradley top scored with 63 and Alex Bingham hit 54 as a strong showing from Stour’s top-order saw them compile 245 in 53.2 overs.

In reply, Tamworth were restricted to 192-8 from 56 overs as they were gradually worn down by the hosts.

Audy Alexander took 3-52 for Stour, who remain top-of-the-table ahead of this weekend’s game with Oswestry.
