FRIENDS of a Pedmore cricketer who died during a game are set to play a fitting tribute to the all-rounder.
Former team-mates of Richard Beaumont from Pedmore Cricket Club, and his previous club, Romsley and Hunnington, will be taking on a Worcester County League Select XI in a 40-over fundraising match.
Richard, aged 33, died during a game on August 4, he collapsed on the field after completing a spell of bowling and was declared dead shortly after at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The memorial game, which his father Bob hopes will become an annual event, will take place at Pedmore's ground at Rectory Glebe, Pedmore Hall Lane, on Saturday September 22, starting at noon.
Entrance to the match will be free but donations from spectators will be given to a new foundation, set up in Richard's name, to encourage more young players into cricket.
