A BLACK Country man who will row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean for charity is hosting a fundraising event in Brierley Hill tonight (August 21).
Lee Felton, who has lived in Dudley borough for most of his life, is taking on the world’s toughest row, when he and three others attempt the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in December.
The 30-year-old will start his challenge from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, finishing roughly six weeks later in Antigua.
However, the group – Square One Atlantic – which has no previous experience of rowing, is aiming to raise £80,000 for two charities, including human trafficking charity Sport For Freedom.
Biology teacher Lee will be joined by the other three members of his team – Tom Hodgson, Ben Davies and Sean Lannon – at David Lloyd in Brierley Hill tonight, from 7pm, for a fundraising event.
Lee, who grew up in Kingswinford, said: “We are going to be rowing all morning in Cheltenham, before coming up to Dudley in the evening where we will have rowing machines out again.
“We are also going to be joined by DJ Al Bradley from The Bridge, have a selection of food and entertainment as well as a number of fundraising activities going on.”
Entry to the fundraiser, which will finish at about 12.30am, costs £10. For more information visit www.squareoneatlantic.com or donate to the group at www.justgiving.com/squareoneatlantic
