BLACK Country comedy stars the Fizzogs had audiences rolling in the aisles with laughter during a week of rip-roaring performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The original comedy act, who became a global hit after a video of their Dancing Grannies routine went viral on Facebook, staged a 45-minute extract from their Fifty Shades of Fizzog show at The Space venue over seven days.

They also treated unsuspecting festival-goers on the streets of the Scottish city to flashmob performances of their famous old folks' routine.

Standing ovations and a sell-out final show greeted Fizzogs stars Sue Hawkins, Deb Nicholls, Jacky Fellows - who were also joined by James Collins at Edinburgh; and they received rave internet reviews from a new army of followers.

One fan, writing on the Fringe website feedback page, hailed the act the "best laugh in the Fringe".

And independent Fringe website Broadway Baby described them as "this year's breakthrough sketch show".

Fizzog Deb Nicholls said: "It went amazingly. We went up last year for a day so we decided we'd got to go up this year and do it properly."

Fizzog Jacky Fellows added: "It has always been one of our aims to spread the Black Country name and its humour as far afield as we can and I think we have done that in Edinburgh.

"We have also shown our performances can reach out to different wider audiences without losing any of its impact or sense of fun."

Now back on home turf in the Black Country - the Fizzogs are gearing up to perform the full version of their Fifty Shades of Fizzog show at Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre on Thursday September 3.
