A 70-year-old woman had to be taken to hospital yesterday afternoon (Sunday, July 23) after being involved in a car crash in Amblecote.
The lady was a passenger in a car which was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the junction of High Street, Collis Street and Wollaston Road at about 2.53pm.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was sent to the scene where they treated the woman – who was able to free herself from the car – for bruising to her chest and pain in her right knee.
She was taken to Russells Hall Hospital alongside the driver of the car, a 70-year-old male, who suffered right sided abdominal pain and was given pain relief by paramedics.
The man was discharged at the scene, but went with the other patient in the ambulance to provide support. After initially declining paramedic assessment, the man later booked himself in to A&E.
The incident was also attended by West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service, which sent eight firefighters to the scene, including a fire engine from Stourbridge Fire Station and a brigade response vehicle from Brierley Hill.
The fire crew made sure the scene and the cars were safe before police recovered the vehicles.
