A CANTEEN used by workers repairing the M5 viaduct has clinched a gold award for serving healthy choices.

BMVJV M5 in Oldbury has been awarded a gold Eat Out Eat Well award by Sandwell Council's environmental health team.

The Eat Out Eat Well scheme rewards restaurants, takeaways and other food businesses that make it easier for customers to make healthier choices.

Councillor Elaine Costigan, cabinet member for public health and protection, said: "We are thrilled as this is the first Eat Out Eat Well Gold Award in Sandwell. This is in addition to eight other businesses who also have silver and bronze Eat Out Eat Well Awards.

“These awards are a great way of recognising the businesses that make the extra effort to provide tasty and healthier options."

She added: "Well done to BMVJV M5 who are doing their bit to make it easier for customers to make healthy food choices.”

If anyone knows of a great restaurant, café or takeaway in Sandwell that offers healthier choices they can nominate them for an award by emailing Food_BusinessCentre@sandwell.gov.uk.
