A SERIAL shoplifter has been ordered to pay over £1,000 after stealing from a host of stores in Dudley.

Robert Philpott, aged 35, of Withymoor Road, Netherton, pleaded guilty to stealing £235 worth of sweets from Iceland, fitness products worth £460 from Home Bargains and chocolate to the value of £100 from Poundland. He received a community order with a curfew and must pay £1, 030.00 in compensation and surcharges.

The following cases were also heard at Dudley Magistrates Court last week.

Matthew Blizzard, aged 36, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing £20 worth of meat and detergent from the Co-Op and stealing £72.50 worth of washing products from Wilko. He received a six week prison sentence and was ordered to pay £165 in compensation.

Wayne Homer, aged 32, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to failing without reasonable excuse to register at a police station at a required time. He received a 16 week prison sentence due to this being the eighth similar offence committed. He was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Ricky Johnson, aged 32, of Bredon Road, Stourbridge, pleaded guilty to stealing £34 worth of washing powder and chocolates worth £150 and failing to attend Dudley Magistrates' Court without reasonable cause. He received a community order and was ordered to pay £251.99 in compensation.

Benjamin Vance, aged 37, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing £35.42 worth of cleaning products from B&M; two counts of stealing meat worth £69.09 and £24 from Co-Op and stealing art equipment to the value of £350 from Hobbycraft. He received a four week prison sentence and must pay £443.09 in compensation.

Darren Oakes, aged 43, of Malvern Avenue, Stourbridge, was found guilty of assault. He received a Community Order and must carry out 120 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He also received a restraining order. He was also ordered to pay compensation, surcharges and costs totalling £835.

Jason Cartwright, aged 18, of Highland Road, Dudley, pleaded guilty to possessing a machete in a public place without lawful authority and possessing cannabis. He was committed to a young offender's institute for six months and was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £185 costs.

Shaun Hill, aged 49, of Intended Street, Halesowen, pleaded guilty to £20.76 worth of meat from Lidl in Dudley. He received a 12 month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay surcharges and costs totalling £155.

Barzan Mostafa, aged 30, of Golds Hill Road, Birmingham pleaded guilty to failing to co-operate with a breathalyser test in Oldbury. He was fined £120 and must pay a £30 surcharge and £135 costs. He is also disqualified from holding a driving licence for four months.

Jasvir Singh, aged 47, of Thorne Road, Rowley Regis, was found guilty of assault by beating. He received a community order and must carry out 80 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £385.
