TWO people were taken to hospital after a crash between a lorry and a car in Peartree Lane near Dudley on Monday night (January 27).

Police and paramedics were called to the incident and the road, which is near to the intu Merry Hill shopping centre, was sealed off while emergency crews worked at the scene.

One onlooker described the incident as a "bad accident" and said: "Wagon jack knifed across road with a car smashed into side, another lorry on recovery truck. Ambulances and police attending.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 6.15pm last night to reports of a collision between a lorry and a car on Peartree Lane. One ambulance attended the scene.

"We treated two patients, a woman and a man, who were both from the car.

"They were both treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further assessment."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said the road re-opened at 7.40pm.
