TWO Dudley men have been convicted after a cyclist was killed in a hit and run in London.

Angelo Kaminski drove through a red light, hitting cyclist Abdul Hadi, before driving off and abandoning the car less than 1km from the scene of the collision on Camden Road.

Mr Hadi suffered serious injuries including a skull fracture, bleed on the brain and fractured pelvis. He remained in a coma for 18 months and died on July 13, 2019 having never regained consciousness.

Angelo Kaminski, aged 28, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice during the trial at Wood Green Crown Court.

Various family members, two who are from Dudley, have also been convicted for perverting the course of justice.

His father, Grzegorz Kaminski, aged 47 of Wolverton Road, Dudley and 21-year-old brother Patryk Kaminski, also of Wolverton Road, were found guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

His cousin Adrian Kaminski, aged 26, of Bouncers Road, London was also found guilty of the same charge.

All four have been remanded for sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday (February 14).

The court heard how the family concocted a story that the car Angelo had been driving had been stolen.

In the meantime, the abandoned car was reported to police by members of the public and officers found it to have significant damage consistent with being involved in a collision.

Police were able to retrieve forensic evidence from the car which linked Angelo Kaminski to the vehicle.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Frost, who led the investigation for the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at the Metropolitan Police, said: “Angelo Kaminski drove through a red light and struck Abdul Hadi, leaving him with catastrophic injuries. Instead of stopping and trying to help Mr Hadi, he thought only about himself, fleeing the scene and then, along with his family members, instigating attempts to cover his tracks.

“I would like to thank the Hadi family for all their support throughout the investigation into this tragic incident which has left them deprived of a loving husband and father.”
