A CORONER has recorded a verdict of natural causes after an Oldbury musician died at his home from kidney failure after collapsing on his doorstep.

Lloyd Bailey passed away at his home in Martley Road in the early hours of March 28 just a few hours after undergoing dialysis at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, an inquest on Monday April 6 heard.

Black Country Coroners Court was told Smethwick-born Mr Bailey, aged 59, had end stage renal disease and he had been feeling unwell. On returning from hospital on the evening of March 27 he collapsed on his doorstep.

A friend called an ambulance but Mr Bailey declined it and his friend stayed with him until he passed away at home in the early hours of March 28.

Area coroner for the Black Country, Joanna Lees, said Mr Bailey, a divorcee, had died of renal failure. She said he also had hypertensive disease and hyperparathyroidism and was haemodialysed and she concluded he died due to natural causes.
