A STOURBRIDGE man was ordered to pay more than £7,000 in compensation for fraudulently opening a bank account and applying for loans by false representation.

Mark Boswell, of Grove Road, received a 36 week jail term, suspended for 18 months, after he admitted dishonestly opening a bank account and applying for two loans for £5,000 and £2,500, in another person’s name, in 2018 and 2019.

The 54-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences in June and was sentenced at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on July 9.

Magistrates ordered Boswell to pay £7,206 in compensation and to follow a curfew for two months, along with a restraining order.

Also in court last week, a Brierley Hill man has been banned from driving for two years after admitting drink driving in Dudley.

Mahbub Amar pleaded guilty to driving on Mill Street while over the legal alcohol limit, where he was found to have 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for two years and was ordered to follow a curfew as part of a community order.

The 35-year-old was also ordered to pay a £95 surcharge and £135 in costs, when he appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on July 7.

Also appearing at Dudley Magistrates Court, a Coseley woman has been hit with a court bill after admitting assaulting a police officer.

Susan Scott, of Hollywell Street, pleaded guilty to assaulting PC Guest in the execution of his duty in Dudley on April 30.

The 42-year-old was fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 in compensation and a £34 surcharge, when she appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on July 8.

Meanwhile, an uninsured driver from Lower Gornal has been disqualified from getting behind the wheel for 20 months after drink driving in Wolverhampton.

Matthew Cooper, of The Straits, admitted driving while over the legal alcohol limit on Bankfield Road in Wolverhampton on May 8.

Appearing at Dudley Magistrates Court on July 7, the 30-year-old also pleaded guilty to driving without a test certificate or insurance.

He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 20 months and was ordered to pay a £350 fine, a £34 surcharge and £135 in costs.
