BATTERIES worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from BT roadside cabinets across Stourbridge, police have reported.
BT Openreach cabinets, which bring broadband to homes and businesses, have been targeted in Clark Street, Stourbridge, Hamilton Avenue in Wollaston, Yarnborough Hill in Oldswinford, Greenfinch Road in Pedmore and Trinity Road in Amblecote - Stourbridge police neighbourhood team has confirmed.
Four large batteries were taken from the cabinets at each location - and Stourbridge PCSO Neal Hunt said the stolen batteries were "worth £1,000 in total at each offence location".
He said police would be questioning workers seen at any roadside cabinets and he urged members of the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity at these boxes especially during the evening.
