DISGRACED Dudley councillor Paul Woodall has quit after admitting he assaulted his wife causing a cut to her head.
The authority confirmed today Mr Woodall has resigned from the Kingswinford North and Wall Heath ward, after he pleaded guilty to the assault charge at Dudley Magistrates Court last week.
Mr Woodall, who was elected as a Conservative member of the council in 2010, will stand down with immediate effect.
Council officials will now have to decide whether to hold a by-election or wait for the scheduled local elections in May for voters to choose his replacement.
Mr Woodall has been bailed to reappear in court on Thursday February 23 for sentencing.
