OSTEOPOROSIS sufferers across Dudley borough are being given the opportunity to hear from bone health experts this week at a free information event.

Those affected by the condition, where bones lose their strength and are more likely to break, usually following a minor bump or fall, are invited to the National Osteoporosis Society event on Wednesday (June 7).

The event offers patients, carers and health professionals the rare opportunity to hear from specialists in the field and to understand more about the condition, including ways to look after their bones through nutrition and exercise.

Attendees will also have the chance to pick up some free information and chat to others affected by osteoporosis.

Katie Hall, regional development manager for the National Osteoporosis Society central region, said: “We are delighted that Dr Andrew Whallett, consultant rheumatologist and head of medical education from the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, and Angela Amphlett, specialist exercise/postural stability instructor from Active Seniors, will be speaking at what will be a hugely interesting and informative event.”

Taking place at Amblecote Christian Centre from 6.15pm until 8.15pm, the meeting is being supported by Active Seniors, a not for profit organisation that specialises in evidence-based exercise classes focusing on building bone strength, improving balance and reducing falls risks.
