CLENT History Society's first meeting of the season will be about the Bluebird Toffee Factory.

Historian Julian Hunt will be the guest speaker at the event taking place at Clent Parish Hall on Thursday March 15.

Romsley-born Mr Hunt worked at Birmingham Reference Library before becoming a local history librarian in Oldham and later in Aylesbury.

He wrote the Millennium History of Romsley in 1999 and the History of Halesowen in 2003.

He will be speaking about the famous toffee factory which opened in 1927 and contributed to a transformation of the economy of Hunnington and Romsley by providing much-needed female employment.

The factory was designed by leading Birmingham architect Norman Cooke, who designed the City’s Hall of Memory.

The talk starts at 8pm and everyone is welcome.
