RUNNERS are being urged to help the Stroke Association by signing up for its annual ‘Resolution Run’ at Hagley Hall.

The event, which last year saw more than 400 people descend on Lord Cobham’s estate, features 5k, 10k, and 15k runs taking place at 11am on Sunday, March 5.

Hagley’s Resolution Run is one of the 31 taking place across the UK – providing the perfect motivation to get in shape after Christmas, while helping to raise vital funds to conquer stroke.

The event is being supported by Clent Hills Rotary Club and Hagley Rotary Club, who are also helping to raise awareness for and organise the run.

Katrin Winstanley, community and events fundraiser at the Stroke Association, said: “A Resolution Run is exactly that – a resolution for the new year that counts. It’s the ideal event if you want to get more active in 2017, while having fun.

“Our events are open to all ages and abilities, and participants can run, jog or walk the routes. We’ll also provide a full training guide to help keep resolution runners on track every step of the way.

“We’re very thankful to Lord Cobham for allowing us to use the beautiful estate, and to Clent Hills Rotary Club and Hagley Rotary Club, who have been a tremendous support in organising the day.”

At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control, eating healthily and taking regular exercise.

The money raised through the Resolution Run in Hagley will help the Stroke Association fund vital research and support people affected by stroke across the West Midlands.

Katrin added: “By training and taking part in the runs, you’ll be helping to reduce your own risk of stroke while raising awareness and money to support those already affected by the condition.”

Entry into the run costs £15 and all runners will receive a technical running t-shirt and medal.
