PARISHIONERS from St Peter's Church, Pedmore, and St Andrew's, Wollescote, are inviting people across Stourbridge to join them to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

An afternoon of fun and games for the community will take place on the cricket pitch at the back of St Peter's Church in Pedmore Lane on Sunday June 12 from 2.30pm.

There'll be a flower display in the church and the St Peter's Centre will be open for cream teas as well as the cricket pavilion for a barbecue and ice cream.

People can also take along their own chairs and enjoy a picnic.

Cricket games for all ages and abilities, crafting fun, parachute games organised by the Guides and a Queen trivia competition will also be taking place - and there'll be a display of cars from across the decades, a cake-baking competition and a fancy dress competition which is inviting entrants to dress as Kings and Queens or royal colours.

Visitors are also invited to help make a birthday card for the Queen from the people of Pedmore and to don fancy dress from any of the last nine decades - and at 5pm there'll be a rousing Songs of Praise in the church with the new Priest in Charge at St Peter’s and St Andrew’s - Sarah Northall.

One of the organisers, Jean Lewis-Millward, said: "It is a fun afternoon open to anyone in and around Stourbridge who would like to come and enjoy themselves. We always do mark every royal occasion.

"We held a similar day in 2012 which proved to be huge fun for everyone."
