At the meeting on November 25, chairman Hilda Cartwright presided.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and reports were given by the treasurer and social secretary.

The speaker was David Berry, who took us on a nostalgic trip back to the 1960s, a time of immense social change.

There was flower power, the pop scene, Mary Quant and Vidal Sassoon and in 1967, the first successful heart transplant by Dr Christian Barnard.

The talk was followed by a quiz to see what we remembered of the swinging sixties.

The Christmas party was on December 9 and was attended by 36 members, who all enjoyed the festive fare provided by the committee, a free raffle and a gift of chocolates or biscuits.

The chairman thanked the committee for all their hard work and also thanked members for their loyalty and support.

It was hoped that 2015 would see an increase in members.

The next meeting will be on January 15 when Katie Bott from Dudley Council will talk to us on “Living well, feeling safe”.
