At our Jubilee meeting in June over 40 members enjoyed a street party.
We enjoyed pass the parcel with lots of hidden surprises, a quiz with a royal theme and guess the names of the baby photographs.
In July, Paul Betterton entertained us with an illustrated talk entitled, The Titanic story.
The dream begat a nightmare, the nightmare begat a legend”. he told of strange happenins and premonitions before the sailing, discouraging some sailors and passengers from embarking.
It was very interesting and comprehensive story with many questions still remaining unanswered, even 100 years later.
Do join us at our next meeting on September 18, 7.30pm at Stourton Village Hall when David Berry will be talking about humour in retirement.
