The June meeting was opened by Chairman of the day Liz Hubbard who welcomed members and visitor.

The minutes of the previous meeting, prepared by secretary Liz Moseley, were signed and Rosemary Skidmore, treasurer, gave details of the finances to date.

Federation Report - Ann Birchell gave details of a Race Day on June 24 £7.50 which includes a fish and chip lunch and a competition of the most elegant or quirky hat. The venue for the Annual Lunch is The Vesuvio Restaurant, Victoria Passage, Stourbridge, on August 3, with a three course meal at a cost of £15 plus cheese and biscuits if required at £1.75. Payment for both events due by this meeting. There will be a Harvest Lunch, with entertainment, 7th October at Wollaston £10. There is a Birmingham Federation event on November 4 at Carr’s Lane Church ‘The History Wardrobe’ about fairytale costumes and Sue Cadman will talk about her life in show business. Names had been forwarded to Federation of those interested in joining craft sessions.

Guild Lunch Club - The Guild Lunch Club will meet at The Court House, Kingswinford on Monday July 6, 12 for 12.30pm.

Coffee Mornings – Margaret Ford will host the morning on WednesdayJuly 29 10.30am.

Theatre Group – Barbara Taylor gave details of Sunset Boulevard at the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton in September Secretary Liz is organising a visit to Harvington Hall to a ‘Candle-light Tour With A Difference’ on December 9, starting at 6.30pm, at a cost of £14.50 plus travel. £10.

Liz then introduced Sarah Nixon, Police Crime and Vulnerability Officer who gave a most informative talk on home and personal security.

Very sound advice was given with some surprising revelations on personal vulnerability and easy house access by intruders. With the literature available the mornings talk was very enlightening and a worthwhile project. Liz gave the vote of thanks. A plant sale then took place.

At the next meeting on July 20 that well know speaker Alan Thornton will give a talk entitled ‘A day in the life of a seaside hotelier’. In the 1970/80’s Alan kept a hotel in Weymouth, Dorset and will tell us of many personal, humorous tales and experiences. Ladies and Gentlemen visitors are very welcome to come to this meeting at a small charge of £2.50 including refreshments.
