Wordsley M Townswomen's Guild

The February meeting was opened by chairman of the day Wendy Lloyd and welcomed members who had braved a cold and frosty morning. Minutes of the previous meeting were signed and Rosemary Skidmore, treasurer, gave brief details of the accounts to date.

Federation. ~ The Annual Inter Guild Quiz will be held on Monday, June 6at the Stourbridge Football and Social Club, Amblecote. Details of a Craft Fair at the NEC in March, a day at Tatton Park Wednesday 6th July and an afternoon tea party celebrating our Queen’s 90th birthday, was given by Ann Birchell. The Annual Lunch will again be held at the Vesuvio Restaurant, Stourbridge on July 25.

The lunch club will meet at The Lawnswood on Monday March 7 12 for 12.30pm. Himley Country Hotel has been booked as the venue for the annual birthday lunch on April 4. Menus were given out to be returned next meeting together with payment of £11.

The first coffee morning of the year will be held at the home of Pat Hadley on Wednesday March 16 starting at 10.30am. It is a good opportunity to meet socially and to get to know other members.

Tickets now available for the TAB production of ‘Grease’. Barbara Taylor gave details of the West Bromwich Operatic Society’s production of ‘Made in Dagenham’ for Wednesday’s matinee May 25 2.30pm at the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton.

To celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday it was decided, following the speaker, to hold a Bring and Share buffet at the April meeting.

Member, Liz Hubbard, then gave a talk on her newly found hobby of adult colouring books. Liz showed her work on a book entitled ‘Secret Garden’ with the pages of beautiful colourings of flowers, butterflies etc. There is a wide selection of pens, pencils, crayons to use and, as one member stated, this art is very therapeutic, creative and rewarding.

Annual subscriptions were then paid and refreshments followed.

On March 21, 10am, we will have a demonstration of Table Flowers Arrangements by Liz Hubbard preceded by the Annual General meeting.

April 18 is when David Bartley will give a talk entitled ‘Potted History of Porcelain’. Members are encouraged to bring along an item of china or porcelain and David will try to value them. Visitors are very welcome at a charge of £2.50 including refreshments.
