WITH Wimbledon on the horizon, Wall Heath Tennis Club are celebrating the summer season by hosting a series of tennis events this weekend.

On Saturday (May 14), the club is welcoming all ages and abilities to try out their skills as part of the Lawn Tennis Association’s ‘Great British Tennis Weekend’.

Among the events taking place at the new clubhouse between 10am and 1.30pm will be fun and games for all the family, with prizes to be won including free club membership and tickets to watch matches at Wimbledon.

During the day, refreshments will be provided for free, while information about sessions the club run will also be available.

The courses include the club’s three ‘Tennis For Kids’ courses, which have been funded by the LTA to inspire the next generation, while in conjunction with Dudley’s ‘leap over 50 project’ the club will be running a six week course.

Adrian Hyde, the club’s licensed LTA coach who has been playing at the club since he was eight-years-old, said: “It’s a small friendly club that’s a great place to get started.”
