OVER 50s who have been inspired by the British players’ Wimbledon heroics are being invited to specialist Dudley borough tennis sessions.

Mary Spiers, of Age UK Dudley’s ‘Leap Over 50’ project, and Wall Heath Tennis Club’s Adrian Hyde are organising activities for those the right side of 50 who love the game and want to keep fit.

The sessions are available to borough residents of all abilities and will run throughout the summer at the Enville Road-based tennis club.

One group member said: “It’s a fun session with lovely people and we’re really enjoying playing the game, keeping fit and mixing with new friends during our coffee break.”

Mary said the sessions have already received a “great” response, adding: “Over 10 new people are attending the club for the first time, some of whom are now playing regularly in other sessions provided by the club.”

The over 50s sessions run every Thursday morning from 10am until 11.30am at Wall Heath Tennis Club.
