BRIERLEY Hill will be getting a taste of Thailand next week as the Quarry Bank Musical Theatre Society put on their performances of The King And I.
The society is staging six performances of the much-loved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical at the Brierley Hill Civic Hall between Tuesday, June 2 and Saturday, June 6.
It is the second time the venue has hosted the society following the successful stint of The Sound of Music last year.
The King And I tells the tale of a unique love story set in 1860's Thailand as Anna, an English teacher, enters the court of the King of Siam and features well-known songs including ‘Shall We Dance’ and ‘Getting To Know You’.
Kath Head, society member, said: “We are very pleased and excited to announce that we are collaborating, for the first time, with Sheryl's Dance Academy.
“They are an award-winning dance school based in Cradley Heath who are IDTA national medallists in freestyle and street dance.
“This is ground-breaking for us as it is a first time this has occurred in any theatre group.
“We are also lucky to have 38 local children playing the children of the King of Siam.”
The show, starring Richard Cope as the King of Siam and Sarah Rose as Anna, starts at 7.30pm each evening and a matinee showing on Saturday starts at 2.15pm.
