TWO fires in the open have been extinguished by Wyre Forest firefighters this afternoon (May 14).
Firstly, a Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Kidderminster were alerted to a large area of grass which was well alight.
The crew attended the blaze in a field of Stanklyn Lane, in Summerfield, at about at 4.08pm, and used a hose reel and beaters to put out the blaze.
Later this afternoon, at about 4.59pm, a crew from Stourport Fire Station were sent to inspect the remains of a fire involving a disposable barbecue and paper.
The fire service’s control tweeted a warning: “Please extinguish fires in open and take rubbish home.”
