HAGLEY shops will be staying open late this Thursday (November 24) as the village hosts its Christmas lights switch-on event.
The fun will kick off from 5.30pm at Hagley Free Church with a nativity style Christmas play 'Open the Book', followed by music from Hagley Community Orchestra at the church at 6pm.
At 6.30pm Santa will lead a procession from the church to the village Christmas tree where there will be carols until 6.50pm led by youngsters from Hagley Primary School.
Finally - the village's festive lights will be switched on at 7pm by Councillor Steve Colella, chairman of Hagley Parish Council.
Little ones can also enter a competition to find Santa and his elves hiding in village shops for a chance to win a prize. Entry forms will be available from Hagley Cafe or Lily Blue and they must be returned by Sunday December 11.
Seasonal refreshments including mulled wine and mince pies will be available throughout the evening; there will also be an old fashioned sweet cart.
Lights switch on at 7pm.
