HAGLEY Catholic High School closed to all pupils today (November 8) due to the 'sudden death' of one of its teachers.
An urgent notice was sent to parents last night and a message on the school's website this morning announced it had been forced to close due to 'unforeseen circumstances'.
The school remained open to teachers.
Headteacher Suzanne Horan has since confirmed that the decision was made as a 'mark of respect' following the sudden death of 'much-loved teacher' Dr Abigail Brown last night.
Mrs Horan said: "We are all devastated at this unexpected loss and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time."
The Brake Lane school is set to reopen as normal tomorrow (Thursday), when support will be offered to colleagues and students.
