PUB SPY this week went on another adventure out of town to a pub she had never heard of, and was pleasantly surprised.

The pub looks lovely from the outside, a pretty little building with a nice patio area, and a car park. There were no lines on the car park, which was a bit of a shame because nothing fills my soulless life with light like a nicely laid-out car park and, while I'm sure I could go on about this for a few more paragraphs, I think I'll leave it at that.

You may remember a funny story in the Worcester News about a selection of garden gnomes appearing outside a pub. They are still there.

My date and I were greeted with smiles and a warm atmosphere as we entered. The feel of the pub is very pleasant although the decor slightly interesting. The owner clearly has a keen interest in Concorde planes, as never in all my years have I seen so much Concorde merch.

As I was driving, I just had a coke which was £1.50. However, I did notice there was a decent selection of beers, Butcombe Original, and a local Black Pear Malvern Hills Brewery beer to name a couple.

The food was pretty fantastic for the price. My delicious ricotta cheese and spinach cannelloni, chosen from the extensive specials board, didn't touch the sides. It had plenty of cheese but just enough spinach, creamy tomato sauce and herbs to balance it. The dish was served with some fresh crunchy salad. For £11, I really was impressed. My date had the chicken madrass which was equally as tasty and just as reasonable for £10.

We both had room for a pudding which was lucky for me because chocolate and orange roulade was on the menu, and tasted amazingly rich, complemented with a good drizzle of cream. I have to apologise for the photo. It did look a lot better when it was served to me, but I was that desperate to dig in to it, I momentarily forgot that I was doing pub spy and started eating it before remembering I had to take a picture of it first.

My companion had the sticky toffee pudding which was excellent and both desserts cost £5.50 each.

The final bill came to £36.20.

The staff were very efficient and friendly, I had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning to the Old Bush. I couldn't recommend this quirky little pub enough.
