THE large tree which was propped up in the river against Hereford's Old Bridge has been removed.
The tree floated down the River Wye on Saturday before coming to an abrupt halt in front of the city's historic crossing.
The Environment Agency’s operations team got to work on the tree today and it has now been removed.
Anthony Perry, operations manager of the West Midlands Area, said: "Flooding can have a devastating impact on many homes and businesses in Herefordshire and it’s important we work with landowners to keep the rivers flowing free of obstructions like this.
"The small Hereford based team do an important job maintaining flood defences, responding to environmental incidents and keeping ‘main-river’ watercourses clear of obstructions day in day out.
"The tree clearance work today will certainly improve the flow of water through the city."
