LEDBURY in Bloom has made it an incredible 12 gold medals in a row, a clean dozen, in the Heart of England in Bloom competition.

On Thursday, September 20, the RHS Heart of England in Bloom Award Presentation Ceremony was held at The National Brewery Centre, Burton upon Trent, and good news was in the air.

Ledbury were first up in the Town Category and members of the team were delighted to hear the word “Gold” announced by Chairman of Judges, Roger Bache.

The award was accepted from Les Goodman, President of Heart of England in Bloom, on behalf of the team, by Deputy Chair Christina Vass and volunteer Doreen Feakes.

Chairman of Ledbury in Bloom, Clive Gunn said “ The award is a simple framed certificate but it means so much to the small band of volunteers for all the hard work that they put in throughout the year in rain, sun and occasionally snow.

"Thanks must also go to all the sponsors whatever the size of their donation but particularly Ledbury Town Council in what has been a difficult year for them. We can’t do without them and we hope to show our gratitude shortly.”

Mr Gunn added: “This has been an awkward year for us with several setbacks and unexpected new ventures; the success is in no small measure due to Tina’s efficient organisation and the devotion of our watering team. May I also thank the hundreds who have expressed their support on Facebook through the Ledbury Noticeboard and Voice of Ledbury. Oh, well done to all who have transformed Leadon Way, from those who have taken on the roundabouts to the Ninja weeders.

“Would anyone else like to join the team? It can be fun and the worst thing that can happen is you may get wet, dirty or cold. And new sponsors of any size and volunteers of any experience are always welcome. Hi-Viz jacket and gloves will be provided!"

Mr Gunn said: "Ledbury in Bloom are developing a more flexible approach so we can find you a role whatever your experience or availability.”
