EAGER shoppers turned out for the grand opening of Bromsgrove's newest supermarket on Thursday morning (October 11).

Town crier Kevin Ward and local schoolchildren cut the ribbon on the new Lidl at Bromsgrove Retail Park at 8am, and the first customers were welcomed into the store.

The new supermarket has created 40 new jobs and features an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing, customer toilets and baby-changing facilities.

Lidl's regional head of property Jeremy Lee said: "We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Bromsgrove.

"It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area, and we can’t wait to start serving our multi-award winning products to the local community.”
