THE Rotary Club of Evesham wants to hear from charities who would qualify for support from funds raised by the annual Tree of Light.

Over the last 20 years the Tree of Light has raised over £250,000 and each year about £15,000 is available to support charities. We have a list of local charities that we consider for support. A Rotary spokesman said: “Your charity might not be on that list. If you would like to be considered for support, please contact John Darby (tel 01386 881862, email johndarby@icloud.com).”

The Rotary Tree of Light project raises funds each year to support local charities. The famous tree by Workman Bridge is an iconic element of the Christmas celebrations in Evesham.

The Tree of Light allows sponsors to remember loved ones at Christmas time whilst at the same time raises funds for worthwhile causes which support others who are in need.

The Rotary spokesman continued: “The name and the symbolism of our Rotary Tree of Light are reminders that there is light and hope in the world.

“If you want to participate this year, please go to therotaryclubofevesham.org.uk or use the form that will be regularly printed in the Journal.”
