FOUR vehicles were broken into during one night in the Whitecross Road and Broomy Hill area of Hereford.

The break-ins took place between October 17 and October 18.

Carpenter Ashley Street had his van broken into in Bagallay Street and £5,000 worth of tools were stolen.

He said: "I want to let people know about this as if I had known there had been break-ins I would have parked my van on my drive very close to the wall."

Mr Street said that he could also not find any damage to his van and he has no idea how they managed to break in.

Police were also called at 5.40am on October 18 after a black moped from Emlyn Avenue was stolen. This has since been recovered and enquiries are ongoing.

A theft from a vehicle on Cotterell Street was also reported. Keys, a phone and sat nav were reported stolen between 10pm on October 17 and 5.30am on October 18.

A wallet, clothes and personal items were stolen between 6.30pm on October 17 and 7.15am on October 18 from a Jaguar parked on Broomy Hill.

Sgt Duncan Reynolds from West Mercia Police said: "We are currently investigating a number of vehicle offences within the area and would urge anyone with any information about them to please come forward.

"Enquiries are ongoing into incidents and additional officer patrols have taken place in the area. If anyone has any information about the above offences or witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area, please call 101.

"Please always ensure that vehicles are locked when parked and that valuables are never left in the vehicle or on display."

Police advise residents to park their vehicles in a well-lit area and near their home if possible. They also said that tools that need to be left in the vehicle should be stored securely and not left on display.
