A MUM who was bullied at school is 'proud' to win a beauty pageant that "empowers women."

Danielle Green, 29 was crowned Miss Mystic on Sunday, October 21. Mrs Green said: "It's about being yourself, you can be plus size, skinny, you can be a mum. It's something I am really passionate about."

Mrs Green said: "I was bullied for how I looked throughout school as I suffered with terrible acne. I want to show how far I have come and inspire others to overcome similar obstacles."

Mrs Green is also currently working on material to start running her own self confidence workshops.

Jasmine Pratt from Warndon Villages began the Miss Mystic pageant last year with an aim to hold a more inclusive event.

"A lot of pageants have rules where you have to look a certain way, and if you are a mum you can't enter " Mrs Green told the Worcester News.

Competition small print for those entering the Miss England pageant says mothers and married women cannot enter on the grounds that the winner will have too many commitments.

Mrs Green, from Evesham said: "Being almost 30 as well, this is quite a big achievement."

Mrs Green, mum to two-and-a-half-year-old Florence entered the competition last year and was runner up.

"I decided to come back this year and win it." She said. "I was the only contestant to re enter, so it was all new faces which was nice."

Mrs Green works for a local estate agents in Evesham. In her spare time she is training to be a make up artist. She also won the title of Miss Charity for raising the most money for charity out of all the contestants. She raised £520 for Samaritans.

The applications for entering the Miss Mystic Pageant for 2019 are open. Miss Green will be on the judges panel for next years pageant.

"It's all about empowering women and accepting yourself. I would encourage anyone to enter because it is such a huge confidence booster" said Mrs Green.
