THE collaboration between the Rooftop Theatre and Ludlow Boxing Club is fast approaching.

Boxing Club Rules takes place at Ludlow Amateur Boxing Club.

The group is keen to spread theatre to a wider audience and chose boxing as its topic.

It also wants to put on performances in different places and has already staged shows at Ludlow Brewery.

Ludlow has had its own boxing club since the 1930’s with a thriving membership which has produced sports men and women who have gone on to be amateur and professional champions over the past 80 years and more.

After a period of decline in the early 2000s, it was revived by the dedication and efforts of a group of local people who were supported by the wider Ludlow community and businesses including the Town Council..

The result is a purpose-built boxing gym offering excellent sporting, fitness and confidence-building opportunities for children, teenagers and adults.

In fact, Rooftop’s producer Paul Sayers has become a keen member!

“The community spirit is fantastic, and it caters for people of all levels and interests. T“You don’t actually have to box another person and can just experience the motivating warm-ups, workout and bag punching.

‘Boxing Club Rules’ is at Ludlow Boxing Club on Saturday and Sunday, November 17 and 18 with performances at 4pm and 7pm.
