FOLLOWING a flood which devastated a business centre and left hundreds of homes without power the town MP has written to Severn Trent demanding businesses be compensated.

Greenlands Business Centre was recently flooded and homes were left without power after a burst water main.

Studley Road was flooded and was down to a single lane with drivers being told to avoid the area.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean has written to the chief executive of Severn Trent Olivia Garfield following the incident.

The letter says: "I’m aware Severn Trent has already sent loss adjustors to the site to examine the damage and to speak to business owners. I wanted to write to you to make sure that businesses will be compensated the full amount they’re entitled to and will receive this money as soon as possible.

"I would also like clarification on if homeowners are entitled to compensation from Severn Trent, or money off their next bill, as a result of the long period of time they were without water for."

At the time of the flood a spokesman for Severn Trent apologised for the inconvenience caused.
