The Evesham Town 10K race in July marked 10 years since it started in Evesham and this year was in support of the Ourside Youth Association in Bengeworth.

The race saw runners battle through blistering hot conditions and took runners through the town, its parks and along the riverside.

Bev Wride, centre manager, said: “We were so thrilled that Evesham Vale Running Club chose to support us this year it was a great fit that we were both celebrating our 10-year anniversary.

“Through this we have developed a really good relationship with the club members and the young people a keen interest in sport, which is something we are looking forward to developing further.”

Evesham Vale Running Club members joined Ourside Youth Association at their 10 year celebration to present a cheque for £4,500.

The event gave the running club members another chance to see the centre in action and meet the young people involved.

Colin Tether started the presentation started with a little speech explaining the benefits of running both mentally and physically and inspiring everyone at the event to get more involved in running.

Carly Elwell, director, said: “The money will allow us to pay for essential costs to continue delivering our services free to the young people of Evesham and the surrounding areas.

“We would also like to use it to continue our sports specific youth sessions and help to launch a youth mental health ambassador project.” Sam Townsend, vice-chairman of the Evesham Vale Running Club, said: “It was great to work with Ourside for the 2018 race and we were pleased to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause.

“We are now planning the 2019 race and we hope to have a new faster course starting in the centre of town. We are looking for a local charity to work with us and to attract sponsors to make the 2019 Evesham Town 10K race the best ever.” Interested charities and sponsors should contact the club atEveshamValeRunningClub@gmail.com
