Sir – Will Richards’ view of democracy is alien to me (and I hope to the majority of people).
It seems to mean ignoring the views of anyone who disagrees with him. He complains of the far left’s growing zeal for abuse etc, whilst his own language, talking of traitors, conspiracies and assassins, is actually abusive in itself.
Yes, 17.4 million people voted to leave the EU. However, well over 16 million voted to remain. So democracy ignores them completely according to him.
There are many strong views on both sides of the Brexit argument. Those should be respected, whichever side you are on.
We need reasoned debate, not the irrational ranting of Mr Richards and his like. The former represents democracy, the latter does not.
