THE young actors of The Festival Players in between rehearsing for their summer play have been linking up with the community.

Festival Players are currently in rehearsals for a performance of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

After a critical acclaimed performance of Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors last year, the youngsters decided they wanted to put on a murder mystery this time. The play is set to be performed in July, in Bidford, Broadway, Evesham and Pershore.

Ahead of the summer the youngsters have also been fulfilling other performance invitations. On April 2 they will be performing at the De Montfort School, where most of the group attend. Eight of the group have been preparing for exams Grades 6, 7, 8 which they are taking in March for The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts.

Around the World in 90 Minutes will include all their exam monologues, plus a bit of music and comedy thrown in for good measure.

There will be snatches of 18 different plays, including eight of Shakespeare’s, each one just about three minutes long.

Tickets cost just £2.00 and are available from some of the cast or from Eric Jones on 01386 48788.

Some of the group will also be performing their exam piece at a talk which Mr Jones is giving to The Women’s Thursday Group meeting on April 11, at The Methodist Church in Evesham at 7.30pm.

Meanwhile a link between the group and the new Austen Court Care Home in Evesham is continuing to develop. The conservatory in the new home has become a rehearsal venue about once a week.

Eventually residents will be able to see the play performed at Broadway Lifford Hall on July 18, at Crawford Memorial Hall, Bidford on July 19 at The Arts Centre Evesham on July 24 and at Number 8 in Pershore on July 26, all at 7.30pm with tickets costing £10.
