In a previous online version of this story we stated a Studley nursery had been rated inadequate by OFSTED, we wish to point out Brightkids in Studley is not the subject of this story and has a good OFSTED rating.

We wish to make clear it was the Old School nursery in Coughton that received the inadequate rating referred to in this article,  this nursery has now been acquired by the Brightkids Nursery Group and is yet to be inspected by OFSTED.

A NURSERY slammed by Ofsted and facing closure has been saved - protecting staff jobs and children’s spaces.

The Old School Nursery in Coughton faced closure following an 'inadequate' Ofsted rating which said the provider had a weak knowledge of the legal requirements relating to the early years foundation stage and they had failed to address concerns from the last inspection.

It also said staff's knowledge of safeguarding matters was poor, children's safety and welfare couldn't be guaranteed, staff had a weak understanding of how to recognise and report types of abuse and neglect, and the quality of teaching was weak.

However, Bright Kids Group owner Tricia Wellings decided to swoop in and claim the nursery in a bid to turn it around.

It has become Bright Kids Coughton, which is awaiting its first ofsted inspection.

Tricia, who launched Bright Kids Studley more than 20 years ago, and has since expanded the business, is working with out-going owner Emma Acors to implement changes in an attempt to bring it up to scratch with Ofsted.

Emma Acors will be remaining, on the Bright Kids team, offering consistency to existing families.

Tricia said: “It’s a very exciting time for us at Bright Kids. We are constantly on the lookout for new opportunities and when the chance to turn around an inadequate setting, saving it from closure and protecting jobs and childcare spaces came along, I couldn’t resist.

"We’re very excited to introduce the systems and practices that make our other settings such a success and turn things around with Ofsted."

The nursery has provided childcare services to the people of Coughton for nearly 10 years.

It offers childcare and pre-school education from 7.30am until 6pm.

Flexible part-time hours and two, three and four-year-old funded places are also available, as well as breakfast, after school and holiday clubs.
